Universe Types/Settings

  • When deciding what universe to join, you have to take universe features into consideration:

    - If you are just a casual player, with demanding school, job or family responsibilities, you should select a low speed server with normal DF. This will allow you to be relatively safe while going to school/ work . It won't be bad to have the mobile App to check the game from time to time though.

    - If you are a free spirit, with less duties and plenty of free time, you can select a high speed server with low deuterium consumption. Be ready to fleetsave each time you blink. Mobile App is a must have.

    - If you are fresh to this game, is safer to start with an older universe regardless of its features and join a friendly alliance to get accustomed to the game play before starting a new server that will be highly aggressive, regardless of the server settings. Being attacked is never pleasant, so gaining experience before joining an aggressive server is most advisable .

    - If you enjoy active play and like strategy and infrastructure development, and you are a "click addict" , is better to join a LifeForms server that will give you plenty of options for development and active play.

Ogame universes have three distinct types, miner, balanced and fleeter. These are assigned based on the unique combination of settings each universe has. These settings are:

    • Fleet Speed
    • Economy Speed
    • Number of Galaxies
    • ACS
    • Debris %
    • Bonus Planet Fields
    • Donut Galaxy/System
    • Deuterium Consumption
    • Probe Cargo Storage
    • Dark Matter Bonus
    • Classic OGame
    • LifeForms OGame

    Fleet speed

The speed of ships is determined by the peaceful, war and holding speed settings, which can all individually be from the base speed of 1, in increments of 1, up to 6 times the base speed. Although, this doesn’t mean that the flight time will be 6 times as fast.

Peaceful missions are transport, deployment, colonisation and expedition (note only the fly speed is affected for expedition, not the holding time).

War missions are attack, ACS, espionage, harvesting, moon destruction and missile attacks. Jump gate cool-downs are also affected.

The only holding mission is ACS Defend.

  • Economy speed

Economy speed affects the rate of resource extraction, the time each building and research takes to upgrade and the amount of resources and ships that are found on a successful expedition. Note: the research speed is always double the economy speed. As a general rule of thumb, the higher the economy speed is, the faster the universe will develop.

Valent: Move all the info below in the main post.

  • Number of galaxies

Each universe will have a set number of galaxies, from a total of 4 to 9. Generally those with fewer galaxies are more favourable for fleeter style players and those universes with a higher number are more favourable for miner style players.

  • Debris %

A debris is an orbiting belt of resources left behind after a battle on a planet, moon, or expedition. The amount of debris created depends on the percentage set for that universe, which can be from 30% up to 80% of the destroyed ships value.

DiDF stands for Defence in Debris Field, which means a percentage of the defence destroyed in a battle is left in the debris field, from 0% to 50%.

Note: Only metal and crystal form in the debris, never deuterium.

  • Bonus planet fields

When colonising new planets, they will have a number of fields or slots that can be used for buildings. Some universes have bonus fields which will be on top of the standard fields for the new planet. From 0-30.

  • Donut galaxy/systems

A donut galaxy or system runs in a circular sequence, so for a universe with 5 galaxies the 5th is next to the 1st. When this setting is off, it means the universe is linear, and flying from galaxy 1 to 5 will take the longest time as you have to travel through 2,3 and 4 to get there.

  • Probe cargo storage

Espionage probes have the ability to store 5 units of resources if this setting is on for a universe. Whilst it takes a long time to build sufficient numbers to make it worth while, raising inactives will take minutes, even seconds in some universes.
